ASSIGNED READING: Read Chapters 4, 5 and 6 of The New Art of Managing People: Person-to-Person Skills, Guidelines, and Techniques Every Manager Needs to Guide, Direct, and Motivate the Team (Alessandra, 2008).
The four learning modes— concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation— represent the four stages of the learning cycle. Consequently, they are all important components of the learning process, and no individual mode is better or worse than any other. A totally balanced use of the four learning modes is not necessarily the best, however. The key to effective learning is being aware of, and able to utilize, each mode when it is appropriate (Alessandra, 2008).
